Useful Definitions
‘Finish’ shall mean any surface modification or application to a material or component.
‘Maintenance’ shall only mean cleaning and lubrication of the Installation
‘Servicing’ shall mean any action taken to sustain the performance of the Installation in accordance with the requirements of the Specification with the exception of Maintenance
‘Significant Surfaces’ shall mean such surfaces on which specified finishes are required and/or surfaces exposed to atmosphere and/or surfaces exposed to view externally and/or internally.
‘Design Life’ shall mean the period of time from Practical Completion until the effective end of the Installation’s life.
‘Service Life’ shall mean the period of time from Practical Completion until the first necessary servicing of a material, component or finish.
‘Dead Load’ shall mean the force imposed by the static weight of the Installation.
‘Live Load’ shall mean the loads due to wind, use, occupancy, maintenance, snow, ice etc.
‘Wind Load’ shall mean the loads produced by positive or negative wind pressure.
‘Mock up’ shall mean a full size model constructed to represent the proposed Installation.
‘Prototype’ shall mean a full size construction made from the materials, components and finishes and to the design that are to be used in the proposed Installation.
‘Sample’ shall mean an individual component, material or finish identical to that to be used in the proposed Installation.
'Design Information' shall mean any item of information describing any aspect of the Installation and shall include drawings, calculations, technical data, specifications, certificates, test results, samples etc.
'Newton's Rings' shall mean coloured rings caused by the refraction of light due to dishing of glass panes at the centre of sealed glass panels.
'Brewster's Fringes' shall mean the effect caused by the refraction and reflection of light between glass panes in sealed glass panels.
'Fogging' shall mean any contamination within sealed glass panels.
'Component' shall mean any constituent part of the Installation
